Replicant Software Center is a fully free software market application (because Google Market is proprietary software) developed using the APKTor client which is released under the GPLv2.

We are going to do our own Replicant branded version but for now you can download the [http://apktor.gotoinit.com/ APKtor client].

If you wish to test it we have a libre app repository at this URI for testing purposes: http://sorbaioli.org/repo

Google phones to test Replicant

We are focusing all our efforts on the Google ADP1 also known as HTC Dream.

There are several android phones out there but only a few comes legally with root privilegies.

Here are the ones we know. If you know about an android phone that comes with root by default please let us know on irc or mailing list.

Please note that [http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/27/pour-one-out-t-mobile-g1-no-longer-for-sale/ T-Mobile G1 is no longer for sale] so I think our default device will become the Nexus One.

  • Google Nexus One
The next default device to test Replicant.

Sim unlocked.
Obtaining full root privilegies is possible using a command but will VOID THE WARRANTY.

This is the phone where Google suggest you to do your development now.

  • Google ADP1

The current default device to test Replicant.
Sim unlocked, full root privilegies by default.
You can buy it after paying 25$ fee to subscribe to the Android Developer Program.

  • Google ADP2

Sim unlocked, full root privilegies by default.
You can buy it after paying 25$ fee to subscribe to the Android Developer Program.

  • HTC Dream

In Europe it is sim unlocked but it LACKS root privilegies.
On some versions you can obtain them with an hack.

  • HTC Magic

In Europe it is sim unlocked but it LACKS root privilegies.
On some versions you can obtain them with an hack.
