== Current Phones ==

We are currently focusing on HTC Dream (G1) and the Android Developer Phone (ADP1):

 * These phones permit the user to become root or superuser: [wiki:root_status only a few devices] offer root access, or a mechanism that permits the user to become root. (If you know of another android device that allows root access by default please let us know on irc or the mailing list.)

 * They are well supported in the AOSP(android open source project), that is to say, part of the hardware libraries are released under a Free Software license

 * The current replicant developers have an HTC Dream(also known as G1) or ADP1

Note that the [http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/27/pour-one-out-t-mobile-g1-no-longer-for-sale/ T-Mobile G1 is no longer for sale] so our default device will become the Nexus One.

Also note that if you have a device that is not a Nexus One or an HTC Dream, adding support for it may be possible, especially if your phone is very similar to a supported one or if you have source code for the hardware libraries.

== Replicant Software Center - a libre market application ==

Replicant Software Center is a fully free software market application to download and manage free software apps on Replicant.

We are using the [http://f-droid.org/ F-Droid client]. You can also download a compiled libre apk [http://f-droid.org/repo/FDroid_0.11.apk here].

By default it downloads libre apps from its own repository. We are working together with our friend Ciaran, the main F-Droid developer, on a Replicant repository.

The applications on the list of all known [wiki:ListOfKnownFreeSoftwareApps  Free Software applications for the Android platform] should be incorporated into that.

The replicant project is no longer involved with stock GNU/Linux port on the htcdream, that doesn't mean that the port is not developed anymore, it just means that it's done in the SHR project rather than in the replicant one.
